Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information LibertyBid collects when you use the Platform, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to Customers, Businesses, and anyone browsing public pages.

Account information (everyone): name, email address, phone number, and profile photo, collected when you sign up or edit your profile.

If you sign up as a Customer: your mailing address, used to attach an exact service location to the projects you post. This address is private — see Section 4 for exactly who can see it.

If you sign up as a Business: your business name, description, self-reported license number and insurance status, years in business, website, and the city/state/ZIP codes you serve. This information is shown publicly on your business profile.

Projects: whatever you enter when posting a project — title, description, category-specific answers, photos, budget, timing, and location. The general area (city, state, ZIP) is shown to Businesses browsing open projects; the exact street address is private (Section 4).

Bids: the price, proposal, timeline, and availability a Business submits on a project. Private to the Business that submitted it and the Customer who posted the project.

Messages and attachments: messages sent between a Customer and a Business once a bid exists, plus any image or PDF attachment (up to 8MB) sent with a message.

Reviews: the rating and written review a Customer leaves after a project is marked complete, and any public response from the Business. A review is displayed publicly with the reviewer's first name, last initial, and the project's general service-area ZIP code — never the reviewer's home address or full name.

Payment information: handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe. LibertyBid does not receive or store your full card number — only limited billing metadata needed to manage your subscription (such as subscription status and billing dates).

Technical information: standard technical data collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure when you use the Platform (e.g. request logs), used for operating and securing the service.

• Operating the marketplace — matching projects with Businesses, processing bids, and enabling messaging.
• Sending account and activity notifications (new bids, messages, reviews, status changes).
• Preventing abuse — automated limits on how frequently certain actions can be repeated.
• Reviewing reports and moderating content or accounts that may violate our Terms of Service.
• Operating and securing the Platform itself.

With other users, only as the Platform is designed to share it:

• A project's general area (city, state, ZIP) and details are visible to Businesses browsing open projects. The exact street address is visible only to you, an administrator, and — only once you accept their bid — the winning Business.
• A bid is visible only to the Business that submitted it and the Customer who posted the project.
• A Customer's name, phone, and email are shared with a Business only after that Business's bid is accepted.
• Business profiles and reviews (in the privacy-limited form described in Section 2) are public.

With service providers we use to run the Platform:

• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, file storage, and real-time messaging infrastructure.
• Stripe — processes Business subscription payments.
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — converts a general city, state, and ZIP code into map coordinates so projects and businesses can be shown on a map. This lookup is only ever given the general area, never an exact street address.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, or to investigate fraud or abuse of the Platform.

We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. Abuse-prevention logs (used to enforce the rate limits described in Section 3) are automatically deleted after 48 hours. Moderation reports are kept even if the content they refer to is later removed, so there remains a record of why something was reviewed. LibertyBid does not currently offer a self-service tool to delete your account or data — see Section 6.

• You can review and update most of your profile information directly from your account settings.
• To request a copy of your data, or to request that your account and data be deleted, contact legal@libertybid.com.

[Placeholder: if LibertyBid serves residents of California, the EU/UK, or other regions with specific privacy laws (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), this section needs region-specific rights language — access, correction, portability, opt-out of sale (n/a today, since we don't sell data) — added with legal review before launch.]

LibertyBid uses only the essential cookie needed to keep you signed in between visits. As of this writing, the Platform does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies/trackers. This section will be updated if that changes.

LibertyBid is not directed at, and is not intended to be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including database-level access controls that restrict what each type of user can read (for example, a bid is only ever readable by the Business that submitted it and the Customer who posted the project), encrypted connections, and restrictions on the type and size of files that can be uploaded. No method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

LibertyBid may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
